SYNOPSIS A barely pubescent Asher is struck deaf and dumb and his brother, Chester, beaten to death by a drunken man, furiously jealous over Chester sleeping with his underaged lover. What monster is capable of such a crime? A man positively “prehistoric,” Asher and Chester’s own father, Ivan. Fast forward to the present. Ivan is released from prison and out for blood (he kills an undercover cop only a few hours after getting let out). As the law of the jungle takes hold, Asher knows he has to strike first if he and his loved ones want to live. Syncopated with poetic asides and references to classical patricides, what follows is an artery-tightening, bloody romp through the bayous of rural Louisiana. Grindhouse to its core, if My Father, Die doesn’t leave you a crumpled mess of the person you were before, it will at least move you to call your parents. -Peter Goldberg
